I am sewing and telling on paper piecing!

For this Friday's Sew and Tell, I'm posting a picture of a block.  Several of which I've finshed.  I timed these bad boys out and they take me 1 hour each. Do not assume that paper piecing means faster piecing. :)  The pattern called for 16 for a wall hanging and I've got those done but I have more than that to do for a king size bed.  I am posting this as a finish b/c I broke these out into mini-goals and I've met one.  The block is awesome, though, isn't it? I can't wait until I can show you them all together.

Oh, and a nod to last week, I did add a border. I was feeling "country-ish" given our new home is in farm country so instead of a dark brown border which could have made this top look a little more contemporary, I busted out some fabric from the stash and went more subdued and country to me.  My DD doesn't like it but I find it has some sort of appeal. It's not a normal style for me but as soon as I put the border on, I also knew that quilting this one would be simple straight lines and cross hatching.

There you have it. For more refined projects and finsihsed this week, hop over to AmyLouWho's Friday Sew & Tell with the linky to the right.

Cheers! Beck

Imagine Wayne and Garth doing the "We're not worthy!" bow. That's how I am about your paper piecing! Fabulous!

And you know what? That's a perfect border for that quilt. It's a border that doesn't scream BORDER, so it doesn't detract. Great job!

The block is amazing! I am not sure I could have the patience to plan out all the colors for that block. Great work!!

Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! @ your block. You're making up for lost sewing time. That's amazing.

Yep that border totally changes the look of that quilt. And if the hubs doesnt like it - he can make his own quilt.

Terrific paper piecing! I really should practice that technique more.
I like the border you chose. It gives it a homespun look. Nice!

Wow, that block is to die for.

Thank you for visiting me and leaving the kind comment on my quilt. I am pretty sure it is coming out in the Jan 2011 issue of The Quilter. :) The quilt has a secondary block that helps set the tone for the whole quilt.

That block is totally awesome! I've never seen one like it. Of course, you've also used all my favorite colors. :-)

Your quilt is so pretty too! I like your border. It frames the quilt and does not overwhelm the design.

You've had a really productive week.

I love, Love, LOVE your block! Amazing Forty-one different fabrics?!!! - 10 per side. WOW! And, you used my colors ;D I really look forward to seeing more blocks and the finished quilt. Will you please share how a person may find that pattern or learn how to make that block for 'oneself'?
