I just finished watching the "Bell's of St. Mary's" with Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman and all I could think is, "they just don't make them like that anymore."
Yes, there are great movies now-a-days, some I enjoy tremendously but considering I am only 35 years old and many of these old black and whites and even musicals like, "Meet Me in St. Louis" are so enjoyable and heart-warming, you really can't compare them.
So, that said, I wondered, what are some of your favorites from this same era of film. DH and I both love watching them and I've decided it's time to get back into those ole feel good flicks. :)
Thank you in advance for sharing b/c my repetoire is limited to what TMC plays on TV and Judy Garland and Gene Kelley flicks (and I still say he was better than Fred Astaire but it could be cause I liked his muscles a bit better! lol)
Cheers! Beck
I love "Hold That Ghost" an Abbott and Costello movie. I watch it several times and each time just laugh again. Another favorite of mine is the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Patricia O'Neal and Micheal Rinnie.
ReplyDeletethanks! I haven't seen either of those. :)
ReplyDeleteI have always liked "Young At Heart" with Doris Day and Frank Sinatra, among other people.
ReplyDeleteAlso, "An Affair to Remember" with Cary Grant.
One of my all time favorites is The Ghost and Mrs. Muir with Gene Tierny and Rex Harrison and a very young Natalie Wood. Which then means I like the original Miracle on 34th Street with her and Maureen O'Hara. Also, if you can find them Goodmorning Miss Dove and the original Cheaper By the Dozen. Also, liked I Remember Mommay, with a very YOUNG Barbara Belle Geddes, who in later years played the mother on Dallas! (like the movie Death Takes A Holiday, but don't remember who is in it.)
ReplyDeleteAlso, what about High Society with Bing Crosby and Frand Sinatra and Grace Kelly (though it is a little later in time.)
My daughter who is 31 hates B&W movies, but I think they have a special charm about them.
