A brief disclaimer: For those here to see what I sewed, it's nothing exciting or even inspiring. I literally only hemmed 2 pr of yoga pants. That's it. Scroll past all the text to the shot of legs clad in black if you really feel the need. No, this post is more about why hemming = dieting. Better yet, stop by my pinwheel post from earlier this week if you want to see something slightly creative. :)
First order of business. This is me and DH a few years ago. Notice my legs. At the time these photos were taken, I was about 5 pounds heavier than when I met DH. It didn't really bother me even though I thought the legs were a little chubby.
I know I was right. I wanted to be less than my 140-145 at the time, I thought 135 would be a respectable weight for the 5'2" mother of two in her mid-late 20s.
But, I honestly didn't bother with it. Just tried to stay healthy and live life. I did well but too many glasses of wine...
led to this:
You see, these yoga pants are a 12/14 size. If I have to wear that size for my thighs and hips (and I do) then they are 8-10 inches too long. Today, I had to hem my pants. I did, see?
It also means it's time to focus on losing the fat and toning up again. I want to be the hot chick riding in the mid-life indulgence my hubby got last summer (okay, I mean the hotTER chick).
So, like any self respecting person with new found energy to get healthy, I ate some ice cream and decided a veggie pizza for dinner would be the right time to start in earnest.
Cheers! Beck
Brilliant post! I hear ya, to my everlasting chagrin.
ReplyDeleteMe too.Me too. With me, I declare to diet while I make chocolate chip cookies for my three kids. Here's to the never ending struggle!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I too am in that club.
ReplyDeleteBecks, you can look at it your way or you can look at it my way- when I put on weight my enlarged gut pulls the legs of my pants up so I have to take the hems of my pants down and normally they can't be lengthened so we walk round half mast!! Heck I would much rather be you......
ReplyDeletehugs Deb
oh no, Deb! I have that problem when wearing my "normal" size but then I get tired of wearing high-waters so I go and buy a larger pant size and hem. Now, I'm 2 sizes up. I wonder if I'll get on the wagon here soon. I've been meaning to but still finding every excuse not to. Good weather starting to return IS helping motivate a bit.
ReplyDeleteYou totally make me laugh! Veggie pizza is as inspiring as any cutie quilt or bag. Love this post.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I try to sew a little when I feel like eating. Doesn't always work, but sometimes it does :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the yoga pants. You could try wearing heels if your pants are too long. Dont you think heels with yoga pants would look tres classy? Then you can buy those ones with "Juicy " written across the butt. Even more classy.
ReplyDeleteOkay, two glasses of wine in that pic Beck? What's the deal with that , and dont give me "I was holding it for a friend".
I've been thinking the same thing about toning up and eating better. At the moment I'm too busy eating Oreo's for breakfast.
Mr. P just walked past and said "Woah - whose Mustang?". Sheesh -men. You bare your soul and he comments on the least important part of the post.
i think you are being too hard on you...you look great!!! but being healthy sure is not a bad choice. congrats on the hemming job. i am short and have to go on huge shopping hunts to find anything.
ReplyDeleteI think we are all in the same boat. But the good thing is we all just keep on trying. Good luck and that ice cream looks good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post, Becky! :) I think we can all relate... :)
ReplyDeleteI SOOOOO feel your pain!! I lost 30 lbs last year on Weight Watchers, my husband lost 50!! Well, he is still going down and I'm going up up up!! I wish I could blame it on wine (I quit drinking 10 years ago) but my down fall these days is cheese and carbs! What's a short girl to do??
ReplyDeleteUhm, yeah...I haven't seen 135 in a long time. I'm 5'5" and had more than 2!!!! Thanks for your honesty. It is so needed in the world.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
KT
He he he. You can always buy 'short' - that's what I do - no hemming for me! (or dieting either!)
ReplyDeleteyou are hilarious. I feel your pain. I think this will be me post-baby.
