It's Favorite Things Friday, hosted by Mrs. Pyjamas. My favorite things? Mugs with personal meaning or apropo sayings.
I used to work at McDonald's in highschool and college. I think I earned this mug as incentive one year. I just think the Ronald McDonald feet are funny so I've kept it. Now country singer Toby Keith? He's one of my favorites because he sings fun, catchy tunes. Seems down to earth, invited my husband in for a drink on his bus (and hubby went, not to drink, he was in uniform) but did hang while Toby Keith had a drink... and frankly, because he's the only star I've ever had a photo with. See?
(Back on topic...but not after I say, he made me feel petite.)
Now, these 2 mugs, they speak to the indulgent side of my nature. The hot chocolate mugs were purchased (4 of them) so the kids and I could enjoy hot chocolate together in the winter. It's a fun little thing we do. The other mug, a gift from my mother and oh so fun (bordering realistic some days!)
The quilting one, a new one which reflects my 2 passions. Drinking and quilting. It's a morning reminder not to do both! (Okay, drinking is not a passion but it sounded good). The name mug, that was given to me when I was a kid (we each got one) for the winter hot chocolates when I was growing up!
Dumbo was always my favorite Disney character. A gift from my mom when I was in college. The tall mug, bought last year for the simple reason, some days I just HAVE that feeling. The smiley. A secret Santa gift from a friend in highschool because I hated the mornings and still do. Coffee helps, but it's a mug I've always cherished. I think said long-lost friend would be amazed I still have it.
And there you have it, my small but growing selection of mugs I love. You can see I don't grab just anything but I do enjoy these ones very much. It's quite sad Toby has a chip in him.
Go seek what everyone else is posting with the link above!
Cheers! Beck
What a fun and meaningful collection. I so enjoyed reading about why each mug was special. Very favorite things. :-)
ReplyDeletegreat collection. love that hot chocolate mug. and Toby Kieth? love him too :)
ReplyDeleteCool mug collection! "Don't Drink and Quilt"--love it.
ReplyDeleteCute pic of you and Toby Keith. I'd be almost eye to eye with him. I have to stand next to super-tall basketball players to feel short...which I almost did last Saturday, but I figured they'd think I was weird.
Great collection, Beck! I love the way there is a story to each of them too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, I once saw a fab mug on the net which i didnt buy but should have, which had a cardiac rhythm strip which was not good (fatal) with the caption follow the light.. hilarious. I love your quilt, and the helper is very cute, what fabrics have you used?
ReplyDeleteYep- I like your mug collection too. Especially since each of them has special significance for you.
ReplyDeleteKnowing you are not a morning person makes me feel special that sometimes you share your mornings with me. Even though you're forcing youself to talk.
I've seen that Toby Keith mug recently! And he does have clothes on.
I love all the different cups and all the stories behind them!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate mornings too. Your mug collection is really fun! And thanks for the warning not to quilt and drink (lol!)

Love your collection, Becky! I especially love the quilt mug. I laughed aloud (and hope I didn't wake up the house!) :o) Thanks for sharing. Happy FTF! :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat mug collection, with great stories. I like your big hot chocolate mugs. You have to have big mugs for hot chocolate!
ReplyDeleteLove the mugs. Love the photo with Toby Keith as well. Nice hat, lady!
ReplyDeletelove this post! That's so cool that you have a fun story behind all of your mugs!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Toby was such a big guy! He does seem really nice and down to earth - we get so excited when "trailerhood" comes on the radio!
Thanks for sharing!
I have a mug collection too so you are not alone in this!
ReplyDeleteI collect a mug as a souvenir of every country I visit on holidays. The mug has to symbolise the country somehow so my Canadian one has a moose on it and the one from England has lots of pretty cottages.
I get great enjoyment from choosing which one I will use for my tea or coffee. I can understand your affection for mugs with meaning!
Cheers
Helen
love the diet from hell one :)
ReplyDeleteI too have a mug collection and every mug has a story as well. It's funny what you find you have in common with people.
