ReplyDeleteMy favourite gift was my wedding gift from my mother who made me a double-wedding ring (machine-pieced, hand-quilted) in purple and gold. On the corner where she signed the quilt it has a little LSU surround by two conjoined hearts since my husband and I met passing notes in class while attending LSU :)

ReplyDeleteI know it should be a handmade item, but the most special gift I ever gave was to my husband on our wedding day. There was a certain watch he'd wanted since he was a boy and he'd asked me for a fake one for a present. I bought him the real one (and very expensive it was too!). Seeing him wearing it later and him saying thank you was very emotional!

ReplyDeleteA quilt I made for one of my sisters for her wedding gift was my favorite to give. I showed up at her door with two suitcases, one for my stuff and one for the quilt, and not enough cash to pay the taxi driver! You can imagine their surprise and of course they wondered if there was something wrong! It was great fun and the best kept secret in the history of our family!

We had them open @ the same time. The tags said, "May the best man win!" We weren't there, but we heard there was an epic battle. ReplyDeleteBest gift I ever gave.. gosh that is hard. I would have to say that it was a camera for my dad. He had started to shake from Parkinsons (which we didn't know he had yet), and so his pitures from a cheapy camera weren't turning out anymore. I had joined the Navy, and so I had some money of my own for a change. I saved up and bought him "a real camera". His pictures were great for a while after that, and he was happy.. so were we.

My favorite gift(s) I've ever given were those from my late husband's estate sale. I was able to give away 2 cars (one to a very good friend who helped me with the estate sale and one to my ex-husband) and an electronic keyboard as a Secret Santa present for a local boy who had lost his mother to alcoholism (like my husband). Out of tragedy came something positive.
