My favorite thing does not come with photos or fun jokes today. I'm keeping it super simple and super real.
I call all my online quilting activities and interactions with others (blogging, Facebook, Yahoo Groups) my "guild". My life has not presented the opportunity to break away and go to guild meetings in person but through the internet, I've been able to connect with other quilters, learn a ton of new techniques, get and offer advice, share successes and big failures and participate in quilt alongs, swaps (my first is in process now), mystery quilts, etc.
I'm extremely thankful I not only happened upon a quilting group first through Yahoo and then through the blogging community. I've made friends and I'm truly, truly blessed and more knowledgeable and skillful because of it all... because of YOU participants in it all.
So, my favorite thing is this online guild. I know you will always be here, even if your physical life distracts you or mine distracts me for a bit.
Thank you, my friends.

ps- link over to other favorite things with the button on my side bar. It is a "feel good about life" injection everyone needs once a week. :)
Maybe I should try an online guild...I can't see to drive at night so maybe this will be my best route?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about on-line quiliting friends. I belong to a quild in my city, yet I find my on-line quilty friends to be friendlier, funnier and more knowledgable.
ReplyDeleteBTW - found you through Mrs. P!
I agree; online quilters are a great group! It's been wonderful getting to know you and others through blogs. I don't count it any less than networking the "in person" way.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The online quilters are great!
ReplyDeleteGreat favourite...online quilters are the best, aren´t they!!
ReplyDeletethanks for letting me crash your party on occasion!! :)
ReplyDeleteAll of my inspiration and advice comes from my online quilty buddies. Thank goodness they exist!
ReplyDeleteI can ask opinions, grizzle and carrying on, and copy other people's fabulous designs. In return I get support, laughs, advice and suggestions and have a lot of fun! What more could I ask for.
Great favourite!
I am more comfortable talking and showing my "creations" online than I am in person. + as you said, everyone here is friendly and really helpful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely definitely agree. I don't know any quilters that live near me, so I rely on all my online bloggy friends for their input and help.
ReplyDeleteLove that you call it an Online Quild.
I'm not much of a joiner in real life so although there is a guild near me I keep putting of going. Online is great though.
ReplyDeleteI agree too. The support, information and friendship from the on-line quild is irreplacable. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. I look forward to seeing what other "guild" members are working on or have completed and I love sharing my work with the others. What a fun group we are.
ReplyDeleteGreat FTF, yes its a pretty special feeling we get from our online buddies :-)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way and even before I read your post, I answered an email with that same sentiment. This is my guild and we talk about it all, just like I've always imagined they do at the other guilds. Lane
