Last year, I gave my (almost non-cooking)daughter a cookbook. It was handmade with recipes from both her grandmothers and from my two grandmothers. I also wrote her friends (and many of my friends), aunts/uncles, etc. for favorite recipes and stories that went with them (or were about my daughter). Photos of the grandmas were scanned and included,as were many of my recipe cards in their handwriting. It was so much fun for me to do - and she loved it!

Oh that is such a hard question to answer!! I think it was for my father's 60th surprise birthday (quite some years ago I might add!!) and I was living overseas at the time. I came home for his birthday and hid out at my sister's house. She wrapped me up in a box and he unwrapped me at his party (much to his absolute shock and surprise) Everyone but he knew about it. It absolutely made his night as I had been away for a couple of years at that time. The look on his face was priceless and I knew it just made his night having me home.

Happy holidays to you and your family!
I don't have a favorite gift I gave or made, but a do have a favorite way. I gave my husband a guitar one year, but he had to solve 25 scavenger hunt riddles. I suggest all clues are kept indoors. One involved the Stop sign out in front of our house, but oddly enough that morning, someone hung a red bike on the other stop sign (U shaped cul-de-sac) and he went off track for about 20 mins, when I had to intervene. Who hangs a bike on a sign? Someone else doing a scavengar hunt perhaps? We still laugh about it!!Thank you for participating in the giveaway day!

My favorite gift is a bible story quilt I just made for my godson's baptism - it is also my first quilt ever!
When my daughter was a newborn, her cry sounded like she was saying, "Laaa! Laaa! Laaa!" My husband loves the band The La's, and I found an old import CD of theirs that he had been wanting and gave it to him from her on his birthday when she was a month old. It still makes us laugh (and she's almost 6 now!)

The gift of life!
Wow who would have thought that thinking of the best gift would be hard. I'd have to say that mine is a gift/re-gift and it's this year. My aunt mailed me a very tiny (maybe 2 inch square) photo that she thought was funny. It is of my pops, mom, my brothers and myself when I was 3 months old.
Little did she know that the only picture we have ever had of all of us together was taken when we were all adults and it was a couple of years before my father passed away.
I took this very cherished gift and had it enlarged to 4 x 6 and mailed a copy to each of my brothers.
